Richard Stainer has been writing stories for as long as he can remember.  Since 2009, those stories began to take a more clearly defined shape and the characters developed.  Encouraged by family and friends, Richard began to work on the story of Josh and Gawain, which became his debut novel, In his Grandfather's Shadow, published in 2018. The sequel, It's Never Too Late, was released for sale in autumn 2020.

Richard's background is as a priest serving the people of various communities in Northamptonshire.  Through his further studies, he has a particular interest in the ancient spiritual paths of our British Isles and the way in which these have shaped the faith of varied people.  He has practised meditation for over twenty years and teaches this ancient spiritual path.  He has also undertaken and led pilgrimages to numerous holy sites, including Iona, Lindisfarne and the Hill of Tara.  In 2017, Richard achieved his long-held ambition of walking the Pennine Way and St Cuthbert's Way, from Edale to Lindisfarne, accompanied by his two weimeraners.

Richard lives with his wife in Northamptonshire, and has two grown-up children, two much-loved granddaughters and has recently welcomed a weimeraner puppy into the house.
